4 Tips To Create The Perfect Vision Board!

We’re back and I’ve moved!

The address number is 2791, so you’ll see me reference those numbers when referring to my project.

Moving to a new space can be overwhelming in general. For some it feels impossible to create a design concept and determine how to plan in a new home.

We are going to help you to create a vision for your space and make a plan that you can stick with.

Tip 1: Room by Room

When it comes to vision boards, take it room by room. You can even break down the rooms if you plan to use them in multipurpose ways (which you’ll see in my living room).

I usually find a piece of art or a rug that inspires me and that is the starting place for the design.

Tip 2: Less is more

A vision board is all about creating a concept. This is not the shopping list. Do not include every item you plan to have in each space, the board will look cluttered and overwhelm you. The idea is to create a a snapshot of the major furniture pieces, art and textiles.

My rule of thumb is having 5-8 items per vision board.

Tip 3: Be flexible

Keep in mind that when you make this vision board you may not be in a place to purchase all of them items all at once. When you are ready to move forward an item may be more expensive, out of stock, or even discontinued.

Go with the flow and allow yourself to be inspired by the vision board but not controlled by it.

Tip 4: Work with what you have

When creating a vision board make it easy for you and use a software or a method that is easily accessible. I have a free account with Canva and I use them to create vision boards. You could use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, or use paper and print off the images for a physical vision board.

There is no right or wrong, the most important thing is taking the step and put your ideas together.

Bonus Tip:

Layer your photos on top of each other, this gives an effect similar to a scrapbook. This just makes everything seem more cohesive and connected. Plus, it looks cool and that’s always a win for me. HA!

Below are the concept/vision boards that I will be working off of to create a space that feels like me! I’m so excited to share the journey with you all!
